Hostel Facilities in HIET

HIET has established hostels for boys and girls to provide students a home away from their home. The hostels are built in an environment friendly that certainly provides self-confidence and instills discipline in the minds of students. They can feel at ease and put in their best in academics. The hostel ambience provides scope for developing harmonious communal living and enables them to share the joys of professional fraternity. Self-help, co-operation and spirit of common good are some of the virtues anticipated from the inmates of the hostel. The senior inmates of the hostel are expected to be more responsible and set good examples for junior students. Everyone should uphold the dignity and self-respect of every other student in the hostel. Inmates are expected to utilize the best infrastructure facilities and uphold the reputation of the hostel as well as the institute.

Hostel Administration

The hostel is located in HIET, Serpenenchery campus and to have twin sharing and dormitory type rooms with lavatory facilities. The hostel is administered by a committee, which consists of Principal as a Chief Warden and other staff members those who has been resided at the premises as a Resident Dy. Warden of each hostel to assist and co-ordinating the hostel activities. Chief Warden and Resident Dy. Warden look after the day-to-day administration of the hostel concerned. The Management of the hostels is expected to co-operate with office bearers to ensure smooth running of the hostel.

Rules and Regulations of the Hostels

A hostellers will have no claim to single or double room accommodation and will have to stay in the room allotted to him with two or more inmates.

  • Attendance will be taken every day at 6:30pm in the respective rooms of the students. Students are not permitted to go out of hostel/room after attendance.
  • Students are expected to behave with dignity and decorum.
  • Students are not permitted to stay in hostel during college hours without permission.
  • Day scholars are not permitted into the hostel for any reason.
  • Two day – outing and one night stay is permitted every month. For night stay, intimation letter from parents is required. Phone intimation is not permitted.
  • For leaving the hostel for outing, all campus rules like gate pass/ entries in the registers, warden’s permission, etc.  should be obtained. On outing days, should return to the campus by 5:30pm.
  • Church visit is allowed every Sunday with prior permission. (No special or regular outings for those students.)
  • Visitors are not allowed during weekdays (Monday to Friday).
  • Sitting, chatting or sleeping in other’s room is not permitted among hostel students.
  • Disciplinary action will be taken against hostel inmates for violation of rules and misconduct. A student may be expelled from the hostel on any of the following grounds – theft, ragging, abnormal behaviour, use of drugs and  alchohol, fighting, causing damages, indiscipline, violation of rules, non payment of fees, etc. A student expelled on disciplinary grounds shall forfeit his fees and deposit.
  • Visitor’s day (only parents) is Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
  • Study hours are from 6:30pm – 8:30pm and during the study hours their room front door should not be locked. Students should maintain strict silence during study hours.
  • First year outing is permitted with parents or local guardians only.

Please Note: Any violation of these rules will be viewed seriously. The decision of the Management will be final.

Canteen Facilities in HIET

HIET has spacious canteen facility in the college premises and is run by the private management. For students, canteen is just not a place to eat but it’s a place where they hang out and have a word exchange to relax. At a time, 450 students can be accommodated here in our canteen.

The students and staff of HIET need not venture out the college for refreshments. The Cafeteria with the vicinity of campus serves up some delectable stuff even as the visitors can indulge in a fly-wheel canteen. The kitchen is spic and span, the waiters are obliging and the place is a much popular joint with the students and staff. It provides a wide variety of delicacies to cater the tastes of each individual. There are separate room for students and staff. Management takes special care in providing students for hygienic food. Spacious canteen allows with good seating facilities at about 450 students.

Food items are prepared with RO treated water. HIET college canteen provides quality food at low tariff.
